This post isn’t about the movie, but this movie made me think, there are hardly or no movies on female friendship.
Why?
Sholay, yaarana, rock on, dil chahta hai, 3 idiots & the latest ZNBD (leaving the love triangle movies aside) are all movies on male friendship.
Is it because friendship is not important to women as much as it is for men or may be because women don’t pursue friendship at some point like men.
I tend to agree on the latter.
Generally, the girl “gang” does not continue being a gang after school / college.I guess it is so because once you are out of studies, you get so engrossed in work, new people, proving yourself, deadlines & then families.But hey, is it not the same with men as well?
Then why & how is it that men always make time for old buddies unlike us. Sad but true.
Catching up with an old friend is probably the last or does not exist in our priority list but men don’t give up on their standard “hang out” time. Even if is a few minutes call men are never out of touch with their friends and are always updated with the current happenings in each other lives.
With us friendship does take a back seat after a point of time. No?

Guess the whole problem lies with women just cant leave their egos out when bonding with their female counterparts after some age...Guys always enjoy being together and status doesnt matter nor the age. And other fact is guys tend to unlearn bad things faster than women , friendship being a relation will have its ups and downs...So when is there is down with women, she never wants to forget it and thus blocks herself from getting back together with her friends... And she is progressive, she tends to make new friends and forget old ones just because it is comfortable , thus never have a continous bonding with old pals :P

ReplyDeleteHey Pri I don’t agree with these .There are couple of movies based on female friendship CrossRoads,thirteen, Snehithiye, sex n the city……. Etc
We grls are bound with commitments & responibilities form our childhood till the end
Initial take permission frm parents,thn BF ,thn inlaws & husband goes on….
Due to tis lack of time & space we get laid back. i personally feel its all depends on our priorities in life .

Sree..In our busy lives it does take effort to keep in touch & maintain the friendship that was once shared..Our priority changes..for what ever reasons (be it permission or loosing the comfort level etc) but this is not the case with men..
